Industrial Medium Acquires Expressroom Product Line from Borland Software
July 2003
Vienna, VA – Industrial Medium LLC, a provider of managed Internet services and content management solutions, today announced it has purchased the Expressroom product line from Borland Software Corporation. Expressroom, a 100% Java and XML-based content management system, allows organizations to more efficiently create, manage, and deploy website content, thus increasing site quality and flexibility while reducing costs. Expressroom was originally developed by Alexandria, VA based worldweb.net, which built the product on the concept of their successful managed service of the same name. worldweb.net was acquired by Starbase Corporation in February 2001. Starbase was subsequently acquired by Borland in January 2003. Industrial Medium was founded by several former worldweb.net employees in October 2001. “Expressroom is a great addition to our product line,” said John Barrett, Managing Partner of Industrial Medium and former Chief Architect of Expressroom at worldweb.net. “We’re releasing a new version this fall and our customers are pleased that Expressroom is continuing to evolve to meet their needs.” "We considered many options for Expressroom and feel confident that Industrial Medium is best equipped to continue development of the technology and provide superior service for the customer-base,” said Ted Shelton, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Borland Software Corporation. Christopher Rettig, Senior Director of Web Development for Industrial Medium added, “We're extremely pleased to bring Expressroom and the customers in-house. We’ve been working with the Expressroom customers for many years and we and look forward to continuing these relationships and providing outstanding service.” About Expressroom Expressroom is an XML-based content management system that allows organizations to more efficiently create and manage Web sites.
